Farm is in the process of expanding to 1000 cows in 2013 and is looking for someone to can lend ideas and vision and be a part of the dairy team as the farm goes through the next growth phase. Responsibilities include fresh cow care, processing newborn calves, feeding calves 0-3 months old (hutches and super hutches) 1-2 days/week when the calf feeder is off, working with veterinarian to test and monitor IGG levels and track calf growth. Will also be monitoring and milking fresh cows, observing heats, as well as assisting on breeding days and on the herd supervisor's day off. AI training is desirable but not required. Good record keeping skills according to farm protocols is also necessary as well as other tasks when needed.

Dairy Farm Herd Manager needed at a large commercial dairy in New York State. The ideal Manager for this position would be one who 1) possess a 4 year college degree, 2) has experience working with DC 305 and Dairy Plan C21, 3) and has worked in a GEA parlor that provides data on cow production and health through RFID readers. Must have the skills and knowledge to reduce the cull rate from mid 40% to low 30% and increase breeding success rates and grow our herd internally by at least 6% per year. Overall, this manager will be responsible for the health, safety and performance of the herd. MUST have extensive experience in leadership and supervisory roles with a history of motivating teams of employees who report directly to you. Future ownership is a real possibility.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Packing Shed Supervisor position available for an individual with excellent communication and organizational skills. This will be a job-share position during peak season; willing to discuss options for full and part-time. In this position, you will work with our current packing shed coordinators and management team to plan, coordinate and supervise the flow of production to complete washing and packing of product for distribution to our CSA customers, wholesale accounts and farmer's market. Wholesale/Retail Sales responsibilities include: receiving orders and ensuring orders are filled and shipped correctly. Farmer’s Market responsibilities include: ensuring product being harvested for Farmer's Market is received from the field, washed, sorted and stored appropriately for market quality standards.
