Assistant Production Manager job opening for full-time, year round position on a 70 acre CSA organic farm that currently supplies over 1500 families with certified organic seasonal produce. The successful applicant must have at least 2 years of vegetable farming experience and will assist with the planning and management of field operations including soil nutrition management, cover cropping, planting, cultivating, disease prevention and management, composting and maintaining surrounding field areas. This position involves planning as well as execution of the plan, record keeping, and management of a 3-5 member crew. Off-season work involves assisting with record keeping, planning for the upcoming year, equipment maintenance and other related tasks. Required skills include: operating tractors and skid-steer, and basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel). Must possess good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. Spanish language skills, experience with specialized vegetable implements, machine repair and maintenance skills are a plus, but not required. Packing Shed Coordinator position available for an individual with excellent communication, supervision and organizational skills. Spanish language skills a definite bonus. In this position, you will work with our current packing shed coordinators and management team to plan, coordinate and supervise the flow of production to complete washing and packing of product for distribution to our CSA customers, wholesale accounts and farmer's market. Wholesale/Retail Sales responsibilities include: receiving orders and ensuring orders are filled and shipped correctly. You will also plan and schedule trucking. Farmer’s Market responsibilities include: ensuring product being harvested for Farmer's Market is received from the field, washed, sorted and stored appropriately for market quality standards. Also, packing product for market, loading the truck and completing inventory of product upon return from the market.
Middle Manager position available on a well established Wisconsin organic produce farm. This is a full-time, year round position. The successful applicant will have documentable experience in the production, processing and/or marketing of produce for fresh markets. Experience with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) a plus. Must have a willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the farm, and be able to work as part of a team. Effective communication skills are required. Also must have experience in most, if not all, of the following: operating tractors, skid-steers, forklifts and pallet jacks. Record keeping and computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel) a must. While not a requirement, Spanish language skills are desirable.
